Follow the Mountains and Dive Into Summer

A-frame cabins tucked in a lush green forest hillside, with wooden stairs and decks, creating a quiet, secluded retreat.

The best summer days have a rhythm. Start in the mountains while the trails are still cool and quiet. End by the water, where the afternoon is yours to unwind.

That rhythm inspired our three Eastwind properties: Eastwind Oliverea Valley and Eastwind Windham in the Catskills, and Eastwind Lake Placid in the Adirondacks.

Different mountain ranges. The same effortless summer. Trade the crowds for cool mountain mornings, open-air saunas, and quiet trails. Catskills or Adirondacks, there's still time to claim a weekend in the mountains.

Eastwind Oliverea Valley

Aerial view of a secluded mountain resort with a turquoise pool, black cabins, and lush green forested hills under a calm sky.

Hike It, Then Cool Off

At Eastwind Oliverea Valley, the McKenley Hollow Trail starts at the property door and climbs through the forest to ridge-top views of the Catskill Mountains. Just down the road is Giant Ledge Trailhead, with multiple distinct ledges offering awe-inspiring views.

For those seeking waterfalls, the Diamond Notch Trail offers a rewarding hike to the picturesque Diamond Notch Falls, a beautiful twin cascade tucked into a mossy Catskills gorge.   After a day on the trails, stop by West Kill Brewing on your way back to relax with a locally crafted beer and soak in the mountain views.

Return to the heated pool, open year-round and surrounded by mountain views - an invitation to linger a little longer, and one reason guests who book a night often stay for two.

Three-panel scene: hikers rest on a mountain overlook, boots line a wooden shelf indoors, and a pool sits by a striped umbrella.

The Land in the Sky

Dubbed "The Land in the Sky," Windham is an all-season basecamp for exploring the Catskills, and a One Key "very special stay" recognized by The MICHELIN Guide.

Spend your days strolling the scenic Windham Path, hiking the trails of Elm Ridge Wild Forest, discovering the stunning waterfall of Kaaterskill Falls, or making the climb to the iconic Hunter Mountain Fire Tower for sweeping views across the Catskills.

After a day out, settle in at Dandies & Biergarten with a cold drink and BBQ, or cozy up at the fire pit with views over Windham Mountain or unwind in the outdoor saunas.

Three outdoor lodge scenes: a tiny wooden cabin, Adirondack chairs by a smoky fire, and a café patio with DANDI truck.

Eastwind Lake Placid

Calm lake with a small lakeside town and mountains under large cloudy skies

The Pool's Open, The Mountains Are Waiting

Eastwind Lake Placid's seasonal pool is open again for summer, right as the Adirondack season hits its stride, a refreshing swim surrounded by mountain views.

Explore the shores of nearby Mirror Lake, spend a day hiking or sightseeing on Whiteface Mountain, and discover why the Adirondacks are a year-round outdoor playground.

Back at the hotel, unwind in the wood barrel sauna or follow the private stairs down to the banks of the Chubb River. Set in the heart of historic Lake Placid, with one of the largest protected parklands in the country just beyond the door.

A Lake Placid summer doesn't get better than this.

Three lakeside scenes: picnic basket on a plaid blanket, a lone boat on calm water, and a woman floating in a pool by lounge chairs.

Spending the summer in the mountains offers such a refreshing escape from the unbearable heat and humidity of the city. Waking up to crisp morning air and spending the whole day hiking trails is my favorite way to recharge my mental batteries. I was trying to organize a family reunion in the Rockies next July and had to find the FlyUs phone number so I could fix a spelling mistake on my booking confirmation. Organizing travel for a large group is always a bit chaotic but the destination is always worth the hassle. I cannot wait to sit by a campfire again.
